Original oil painting by Karen Tarlton peacock palette knife impressionism fine art

SOLD
I've had several great titles thrown out there by collectors, fans or friends.
I love to paint these showy birds as they are abundant around here in California.

Let me know if you have a great title for me!So far we have "Just Plain Fancy",  "His Majesty" and "Belle of the Ball". But of course he is a boy bird so let's see what else we can come up with!

Blues Fest by Artist of Texas, Sheri Jones

Blues Fest
6x8 oil on canvas

I created this on location in Glen Rose. It was a little early for the wildflowers and the blue bonnets were a rare sighting. We were thrilled when we found this field of the bluebonnets. We enjoyed beautiful spring weather and bright sunshine. Two qualities of plein air painting that I look forward to all winter. This is available for purchase. $100.00

Coastal Color Sunflowers is the newest small daily, continuing the lavishly lavender theme this week. I'll be leaving Thursday for the Hill Country and the historic German town of Fredericksburg, Texas. Dozens of art events are kicking off in Fredericksburg, which is hosting the Oil Painters of America show. I'll be the featured artist Friday evening at the Good Art Company gallery and my workshop begins Friday morning. There are still a few seats open in my 3-day workshop this weekend, so don't delay - let's share some German pastries, look out over rolling cabins and hills from the classroom windows, and make flowers bloom in brilliant colors!

You are cordially invited to join me in historic Fredericksburg, Texas, amidst rolling hills, cabins, beautiful vistas, and awesome German bakeries for a perfect workshop retreat!

trees in art, trees on canvas, Jill Saur

The tree painting was inspired by a tree down at the beautiful Chattahoochee River in Roswell, GA.  I love to create texture in my art.  Working intuitively, using a variety of palette knives, I layer the paint and watch the scene come to life.  This 11"x14" acrylic palette knife painting is titled, "Delightful Encounter".

SOLD ~ Pinkquilibrium Roses by Texas Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Pinkquilibrium Roses by Nancy Medina

SOLD
12X12
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Pinkquilibrium Roses is the newest daily painting in Flower Mound Studio, as I finish packing for a trip to the Texas Hill Country. I've finished a new four foot container garden for the Good Art Company Gallery, and will have a lot of explaining to do when I return, since Studio Director AnnieBee will not be able to come with me this trip. It's a little difficult to obey her every whim and teach an art class at the same time, unfortunately.... We still have not broken the news that her gallery beau, Bob, has found a new four footed cutey upon which to lavish his affections. Stay tuned for Hill Country photos, pictures of my students, and lots of celebratory kolache eating! Cheese filled or cherry, that will be the question we will have to make each morning. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my new job?

Florida Palette Knife Painting by Jill Saur

Florida Landscape Painting
©1990-2013 SeaBird Key by Jill Saur, all rights reserved

Seabird Key is an enthralling getaway just a short boat ride from Marathon Key.  A number of years ago, I had the privilege of spending a glorious week there with my sister.  On the eastern corner of the small island, there was an abandoned boat.  I was taken with the colors, age, and presence of this old craft.  Last year I came across my photos of this boat and knew I had to paint it.

Here is my finished work, painted in the Post-Impressionist style, reminiscent of Van Gogh.  This 11"x14" acrylic palette knife painting on canvas is titled, "Rhapsodic Blues".   Interested in this painting?  Send me an email and I'll send you a prompt reply. EMAIL  To see more of my work, please visit my website.  MY WEBSITE  Thank you for viewing! - Jill Saur

SOLD ~ White Hydrangeas on Purple and a Texas Hill Country Art Show by Nancy Medina

 Deep Purple White Hydrangeas
by Nancy Medina

SOLD
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

My St. Louis workshop filled up today, so I felt the need to celebrate my first workshop in my home town with some bold color! I've been playing with purple just about all week, after creating a new banner for my art newsletter. There is just something soothing about fuschias and lavenders, and lately it's been a lot of fun to find new colors to pair with purple. In the meantime, I've got a Big Ole (important Texas term) four foot canvas behind me I'm scrambling to finish in time for my Featured Artist night for The Good Art Company Gallery in Fredericksburg, Texas, next Friday evening. I sure hope to see you there!

Contemporary Abstract Horse Equine Art Painting Silver's Gang by A Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Silver's Gang
30 x 40 inches  Oil on Canvas

This was what Brad Bisby calls the 'battlefield'. There are times when you paint you have a set direction. If I showed you where this painting was before I scrapped it twice you would laugh and definitely think it was not related.

The spirit of this horse painting gives a strong definition to equine art because of the strength and passion in the 10 layers or more of oil paints. If I tried to paint something like this again... I could not ever get there. That is what makes this horse painting so unique.

Palette Knife Bluebonnet Painting by Texas Artist Niki Gulley

"Texas Pride II" ©2013 Niki Gulley
20" x 30" textured oil painting on canvas

I painted these Texas bluebonnets and with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives to achieve depth and texture. The resulting image comes to life and is loaded with color and energy. In this wildflower series, I've painted the scene around the edges of the canvas on 1 and 1/2" deep stretcher bars so that the painting can be hung without a frame for a contemporary look. Or, I also have a beautiful espresso floater frame where you can still see the painted edges of the canvas if you prefer framed artwork.

Texas Pride II is also available in canvas prints. please e-mail Niki@NikiGulley.com for pricing and ordering information.

1496 By the North Fork Boat Ramp Plein Air Alla Prima oil painting

I did this as the first painting of the Souvenirs of Downtown paintout, they let us paint where ever we wanted to.  I went here to White City park, its nice and shady and cool.  I have painted this scene before, its a place that is close to my heart, my dad and I would put our outboard motor boat in the water here and go boating in the St. Lucie river.  We would always see turtles and usually alligators as well.

The painting is 12 x 16 inches, oil on masonite.  $500.

SOLD ~ Island Geraniums and Violet Infatuations by Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Island Geraniums by Nancy Medina

SOLD
12X12
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Island Geraniums is another Coronado-inspired floral painting, as I sift through my library of over 500 new photos from my trip there last weekend. These images will fuel the muses for some time to come; there is just something about the light on Coronado Island that seems to give the flowers there such a color boost! Like Miracle Grow in the sunshine or something.... I've become infatuated with purple backgrounds recently, and thought a purple background on this painting would be an interesting experiment. What do you think?

SOLD ~ Into the Air Pink Poppies and $400 Worth of Paint by Flower Artist Nancy Medina

Into the Air Pink Poppies
by Nancy Medina

SOLD
12X12
Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas

Into the Air Pink Poppies is the newest painting in Flower Mound Studio, and it's good to be home after a whirlwind trip to Coronado Island for my solo show at Art and Frames by Wood Gallery in Southern California. It was a wonderful show, with so many good friends in attendance, the most scrumptious refreshments you ever tasted, and enough sales to pay for the trip! *confetti*

A few weeks ago, I received a $1000 gift card from my editorial board as a thanks for my work on the magazine. It took me all of five minutes to spend half of it. It was like being on a game show or something! In case you are wondering what $400 worth of paint looks like, I've shared a photo on my art blog today! I'm not quite sure why the song "Isn't She Lovely" runs through my mind every time I see all that fresh new paint! The smallest tube of all is the new one I tried today for this pink poppy painting.

New Aspen Tree Painting by Niki Gulley - Just Sold

“Destination Unknown” ©2013 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 36" x 48” textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Just Sold to Prime Lending in North Dallas. On one of our plein air painting trips we led, we happened upon this gorgeous aspen grove. Enjoying the melodic tinkling of the aspen leaves rustling in the breeze, the trickling sounds of the babbling brook at our backs, and the beauty of fall ablaze with color, I felt invigorated as I began painting. The setting was so peaceful and rejuvenating that I wanted to communicate that joyful feeling of discovery in this piece. Filling the canvas with energetic staccato strokes and bold colors, in addition to gently arching the tree trunks towards the sky add to that uplifting feeling. And then just a sliver of the trail cutting through the forest, suggests the excitement of the journey that is to come.

Spirit With Us, Three Arabian Horses Painting by A Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Spirit With Us
by a Texas Artist Laurie Pace
SOLD

30 x 40 inches Oil on Canvas

The couple from the UK prayed about the name of the painting. They based it on the Trinity in a sense, but thinking of a marriage where two become together as one, Keith reflected as God at the top of the triangle and he and his wife the bottom two points. As you reduce the size of the triangle... all comes together closer as one.  He also mentioned the white Arabian symbolized purity in the Holy Spirit and the two brown Arabians were representative of he and his wife and their state of uncleanness, still working to become closer to the Father.

Cobalt Blue by Pamela Blaies

7" x 5"

I love this little cobalt blue bud vase. It is so deep blue, that it almost looks black unless I put it on something white. Then the blue really comes out as the white gleams through and reflects back onto the glass. Pairing it with lemons is the perfect complement.

New Poppy Oil Painting by Contemporary Impressionist Niki Gulley

Poppy Passion ©2013 Niki Gulley
18" x 36" • Textured painting on canvas

I absolutely love it when I come across a whole field of wildflowers – there is something about the transformation of a single dainty flower into a dense explosion of color that inspires awe and delights your senses. So in Poppy Passion, I combined memories of places I’ve been with intense saturated colors to convey that joy I feel when I come across a gorgeous field of poppies.

Tarn Gorges oil painting by Marion Hedger

Tarn Gorges
Oil on Canvas panel
35x27 cm (14"x11")
Painted on an MDF panel,
mounted on an additional white painted panel to give a border.
Final dimension fit inside a standard frame.
Shipping costs to be added depending on location

I painted this, my first all knife painting from a very old photograph I found in the back of the drawer.

Here is a brief description of my progress:

I first drew in the large masses using a watercolour pencil and then blocked in the lights using warm colours and the darks using cool colours. I used a light yellow for the lightest part to make sure that this area would look nice and sunny. I then gradually added colour wet into wet, in an extra 3 to 4 layers. The first to make the colour look 'real', the second to break up the masses into 3 or 4 areas depending on the light, the third to refine the colour in the masses and the fourth layer for the refinement. I used only pure colour, mainly mixing it on the painting as I went along. I also worked to keep the shadows not too dark but just dark enough.
